Legendary guitarist Dickey Betts who was a founding member and long time guitarist for The Allman Brothers Band passed on at the age of 80 in Florida on Thursday at the age of 80. Dickey Betts originally helped to found The Allman Brothers Band back in 1969 and performed with the band until 2000. The Allman Brothers Band was truly the original southern rock band and one of the original jam bands as well. The band was famous for records such as "Idlewild South", "Eat A Peach", "Bothers And Sisters" and their 1979 reunion record "Enlightened Rogues" among many others! Dickey Betts composed the instrumental tracks "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed" and "Jessica" which are considered to be Allman Brothers Band Classics...And he wrote and was the singer on "Ramblin' Man" which was the only Top Ten hit ever recorded by The Allman Brothers Band" which went all the way to #2 on The Billboard Singles Chart in 1973. "Ramblin' Man" was a track on their fourth studio album "Brothers And Sisters"... Their most commercially successful album which was also released in 1973 and topped the charts for five weeks that year as well...
