Area Pizza Joints Getting National Attention

Dave Portnoy, of Barstool Sports fame, is back in the region to review pizza places

The racing at Saratoga Race Course brings many visitors to our region, but one is more notable than others.

Dave Portnoy, who heads up Barstool Sports and will be a regular contributor to the upcoming Big Noon Kickoff pregame show on FOX, also runs a YouTube where he reviews pizza places across the country, called OneBite Pizza Reviews, which like the name suggests, asks that he only takes one bite to determine how good a pizza place is.

In previous trips to the region for the Saratoga Race Course meet, Portnoy has visited pizza places in the Capital Region and in the Saratoga Springs area, but for 2025, he decided to a take a trip north to the Glens Falls area.

He first visited Stumpy's Pizza, located on Broadway in Fort Edward.   Although, he mispronounced the town, commonly referring to it as "Fort Edwards".  But he did enjoy the pizza at Stumpy's, offering it a 7.4 score out of a possible 10.

Then he came west, into Glens Falls, where he visited Pizza Jerks and their Southwestern Avenue location on the west side of the city.  Portnoy, however, did fall into a similar trap non-locals fall into .. he called it "Glen Falls".

UPDATE 8/15/2025: This week's videos are out (they post new videos Mondays through Thursdays, 6:00pm) and Dave has included stops in Queensbury and Lake George on his North Country pizza tour!

Stop #3: Crave Pizza in Queensbury (he says "Glen Falls" again):

Stop #4: Capri Pizzeria on Canada Street in Lake George.  Here Dave offers rave reviews of the owner who has had this pizzeria next to Playland Arcade in the family for a half century.

Stop #5 takes Dave Portnoy a block up to Guiseppe's Pizza.  It seems like Dave liked the undercarriage of this pie, but also gawks at someone who won a lot of tickets from a game in Playland Arcade.

His final stop, for now, takes him to the very northern edge of Lake George Village, where Number 1 Pizza awaits travelers departing the village along Route 9 heading towards Warrensburg.

No idea how many more local pizza places Dave Portnoy plans to visit during his time watching the ponies at Saratoga Race Course, but the more the better .. as we know there are a bunch of great pizza places among the Tri-County area.

But let's hope Portnoy remembers ... there's an "S" in Glens, and no "S" in Fort Edward.
